Library of Things
Introducing the UPLB Library of Things:
Revolutionize your Projects, Hone your Skills and Talents and Explore New Hobbies with Our Tool Lending Service!
The UPLB Library of Things was created with the idea of allowing individuals to borrow rather than buy things that they might need occasionally or only infrequently. The things referred herein are school, office and household supplies, sports and outdoor gear, and DIY tools.
The UPLB Library of Things works and operates based on the following principles of:
- Collaborative Consumption
Collaborative consumption is the shared use of a good or service by a group. Whereas with normal consumption an individual pays the full cost of a good and maintains exclusive access to it, with collaborative consumption multiple people have access to a good and bear its cost.
- Zero Waste: Reuse-Recycle-Reduce
The conservation of all resources by means of responsible production, consumption, reuse, and recovery of products, packaging, and materials without burning and with no discharges to land, water, or air that threaten the environment or human health.
- Circular Economy
A model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible.
The UPLB Library of Things initiative is designed to support your various projects, hobbies and interests. In a world where access to resources and sustainability are increasingly important, our service offers an innovative solution by providing a wide range of tools for temporary use.
The UPLB Library of Things is a community-centric initiative that empowers individuals to embark on their projects without the need to purchase expensive and seldom-use tools. Whether you’re working on a school project, exploring new hobbies, or tackling DIY tasks, our tool lending service is here to help.
Buying new is our least priority. We prefer to receive donations of preloved, secondhand items and repair them to extend their lives and this in turn makes them more carbon efficient.
Our Library of Things will provide tools that cater to a broad spectrum of projects.
Our intended collections which we aim to build and grow includes but not limited to:
- Arts and Crafts
- Educational and Recreational Items
- Sports and Outdoor Stuff
- Musical Instruments
- Electronics and Technology
- Home/Gardening Tools
- And Many More!
Cost-Effective Solution
Avoid the high expenses associated with buying tools that may only be used occasionally. Community members can borrow tools at a fraction of the cost of buying them.
Eco-Friendly Approach
By sharing resources, we reduce waste and encourage sustainable practices with our community, thereby contributing to environmental conservation.
Community Engagement
The Library of Things fosters a sense of community by encouraging the sharing of resources and knowledge among members, promoting collaboration and mutual support.
Declutter and Donate your Preloved Items and Be our Donor!
Donating is a great way to declutter and pass on well-loved items that are still in good shape. The Library considers donations of school or household items, be it a gadget or tool, games or toy sets, and more for our Library of Things collection.
Our goal is to make valuable resources available and accessible to everyone, enabling creativity, learning, and growth. As we believe that by providing these tools, we can help individuals to achieve their goals while fostering a supportive and sustainable environment.
