University Knowledge Repository Center

Forseeing the need to maintain and preserve the University Publications,  and to make these materials  accessible and available even for years to come, The University Library, under the leadership of Ms. Concepcion DL. Saul came up with a project called "University Knowledge Digital Repository", which is currently under initial stage of its implementation.

The project aims to develop a comprehensive collection and database of the University generated knowledge, which includes special materials, researches, and other publications of the University. Another goal of this project is to preserve these materials through digitization and make it available online with the University Special Collection Section (USpCS) of  the Main Library as the main responsible in collecting, organizing and preserving these information sources.

In support with this project, Chancellor Rex Victor O. Cruz recently issued Memorandum No. 023, Series of 2014, designating USpCS as the University Knowledge Repository Center effective February 12, 2014. Excerpt from the Memorandum states that:

"All UPLB constituents shall submit both published and unpublished information sources to the USpCS, either in print, multimedia or electronic form, written by the University faculty, researchers and staff, and or published by, and about the University, but not limited to the following type of publications..."

With the circulation of the directive, full support from the Colleges, Institutions, and Departments and Offices of the University is expected by providing the Center with the outputs of the faculty, researchers and staff. And the end result, a database of knowledge generated in the University that can provide reliable information for teaching, research, extension and other purposes. A legacy of the University as well as its constituents that will serve even the next generations. (N.G. Ramos)
